Poinsettia Wreath: The Christmas Version of the Sunflower Wreath

This post contains some affiliate links, which means if you purchase items using the links then I will be paid a small commission.  However, every item I talk about in this post I truly love.

Supplies:
1.  Prepare the wire wreath form.  You will need to attach the chenille stems around the outside and the inner most circle.  You will need 12 stems on the outside circle and 6 chenille stems attached to the inside.  Also, do a cross bar in the middle part of the wreath.  (It looks like a plus sign)

2.  Cut the squares of red burlap.  The squares need to be 10 x 10 inches.  You will need 36 squares.

3.  Cut the deco mesh into 15-16 inch pieces.  It doesn't have to be exact.  You will need a total of 12 pieces.

4.  Pull the deco mesh diagonally (length wise) and then roll the top and the bottom in towards the middle.  Again this doesn't have to be exact.

5.  Pinch the center of the mesh.

6.  Attach the mesh "rolls" to the outside circle.  Attach one roll to each chenille stem on the outside.

7.  Take the burlap squares and fold the pieces of opposite corners into the middle.

8.  Then pinch in each side of the burlap toward the middle.

9.  Attach the burlap with the chenille stems.  You will need to undo the stems and place them directly on top of the mesh.  You will put 2 burlap "petals" to each chenille stem.  The outside circle will have the deco mesh on bottom then 2 burlap pieces on top.  The inside circle will only have 2 burlap pieces per chenille stem.

10.  As you put the petals on the wreath form point them to the outside of the wreath they will stay better as you add more petals.

11.  As you finish with each of the chenille stems you will tuck the ends of the chenille stems behind all the petals to hide them.  Next you will cut the deco mesh "leaves" to barely be longer than the petals.

12.  Next you will take either a Styrofoam or Styrosmooth ball and cut it in half, unless you already bought a half circle then you can skip this step.  Then attach the ball to the chenille cross bar with greening pins.

13.  The next step is to attach the "moss green" colored burlap to the middle part.  You will do this by cutting 6x6 inch squares.  You will need anywhere from 15-20 squares.  Then you will make a "bubble".  You do this by pulling each of the corners in together.

14.  Then you attach the burlap "bubble" to the ball using greening pins.  It is best to attach them at the bottom where all the corners meet.

15.  Continue to do this until you achieve the look you want.

I am so excited to finally have one of my own wreaths that I have made for many others.  I want your opinion though.  Which one do you like more?  The Sunflower Wreath or the Poinsettia Wreath?  Or do you like them the same?

What size squares do I need if I have 6 inch burlap?

So the burlap you have is 6 inches wide? If that is the case then you'll need to make them 6 in because you want them to be square you don't want them to be rectangle.

Yes, 6 inches wide. Thank you so much!! So excited to make this!

You might want to have a small wreath form as well. I'm not sure, but I'm thinking that might be the case.
