DIY Fall Hoop Wreath

DIY Fall Hoop Wreath
It has been a few years since I made a Fall wreath.  I made the Halloween wreath last year, but not an overall Fall wreath.  I knew immediately that I wanted to use a hoop.  I thought I was going to use an embroidery hoop, but then my husband told me about 6 different metal hoops in the garage.  He showed me them and I immediately knew that is what I was going to use!

I had so much fun finding the materials for this wreath and also putting it together.  It was so simple and so fast.  I want to share with you the steps so you can see just how fast it really was.  I can honestly say that you can do this.  Even if you are not a "crafty" person.  Which I will beg to differ if you were to tell me that because I believe everyone is crafty.

Steps
  1. Gather all your supplies.

    -Metal hoop
-Flowers and greens (The orange ones are Orange Mini Poppies, Yellow was a Mum bush, Smilax Spray was one of the green bunches, and other other bunch that is shown in the picture above is a fern bush)  I linked the ones I could find on the internet.
    - Wire cutters
-Wire (mine was 26 gauge jewelry wire)
    -Hot Glue gun and glue
-Optional: Pliers (I use my fingers only, but some people prefer to use pliers)

  2. Lay out everything very quickly and snap a picture.  This doesn't have to take a long time, but you will want to get a general idea on how you want it to look.  Then you can reference the picture as you are attaching everything.

  3.  Start attaching the stems.  You will want to attach your greens first.  I like to cut small pieces of the wire (6-12 inches) and just start wrapping the wire around the stem until you get to the end of the wire.  Just wrap it until you run out of wire.  Then press the ends of the wire tightly around the hoop and stems.  Then move on to the next piece.  Continue doing this until you have attached all the stems.  Feel free to move things and twist things until you like the way it looks.

  4. I like to glue the flowers on the stems.  They can fall off if there is a good sized wind gust.  You can completely skip this step if you feel they are securely on there.  However, the mums (the yellow flowers) were slipping off while attaching the wreath.  Not all the time, but some of the time.  I didn't want to risk it.  Just put a little bit of glue on the top of the hole and then slip it on the stem.  The glue will be pushed down into the hole and stick.  So don't worry about getting it in the hole.  The glue will just be sitting on top.

  5. You are done!  Less that 5 steps and you made a beautiful wreath!  Way to go!  Now go hang it up and show it off
