Kiwi Crate Review

This last weekend Hannelore received her first Kiwi Crate in the mail.  I have been waiting to try this with her since she was only weeks old.  The recommended age range is 4-8.  However, I still wanted to give it a shot.  I am quite impatient.  Can you tell?  Hannelore LOVED it!  She is only 2 and she loved it and she tells everyone about it.  She is still taking about it today.  She is still playing with the things that she built as well.  

Let me tell you a little bit about Kiwi Crate.  It is a monthly kit to help kids use their creativity to make/create things.  You can sign up for a monthly, 3 month, 6 month, or 12 month subscription.  If you sign up for the 12 month subscription then you get the best value.  The wonderful part about Kiwi Crate is that it comes with instructions and all the materials you need to make these projects/crafts.  It gets delivered to your doorstep and you and your kids are pleased.  It honestly helps take the mom guilt out of your life because you know you have it coming and you do not have to come up with something on your own and then go gather all the supplies.  

Their kits are chuck full of QUALITY items.  It is totally worth the $19.95 a month.  (Again it is less if you sign up for more months.)  Each month you get all supplies for 2 projects.  You also get a book that have activities for the kids to do, such as reading, coloring, and more craft ideas. 

If you follow me on social media then you saw that she was VERY excited that it came with her own scissors.  That was part of our first kit.  Since you will need scissors a lot with these kits then they sent us scissors.  It seriously was on our "to buy" list when this came.  It was better than Christmas morning when she saw these.  This pictures shows that she is ready to cut something.

Although she could not do every step (I had to help her with a few things), she LOVED this.  I do have to say that she is a patient 2 year old though.  So if you do not have a patient 2 year old then you might want to stick with something that he/she can do on his/her own.  Like a coloring book and crayons.  Something fast and simple.  This entertained her for about 2 hours.  It took about 1 hour to assemble it together.  Then she played with everything for another hour.  She still plays with them all the time.  The catapult is her favorite!  We are planning on making the additional crafts that were in the book the kit came with.  We have all the supplies on hand so it will be easy to do.  

If your child does not fit within the age suggestions and you think it might be too difficult or not difficult enough then you are in luck.  Kiwi Crate just started 3 new "brands" Koala crate (ages 3-4), Tinker Crate (9-14+), and Doodle Crate (9-16+).  You can gauge what would work for your child/children.  Like I said Hannelore does not mind watching me as long as I involve her as much as possible.  So this worked for us.  I will get another one and see if it is the same in terms of keeping her attention.  If it is then great if not then I will try the Koala Crate since it might be better for her age.
