How is everyone doing on their cleaning schedules? Do you feel like you have more control over your homes and the clutter inside of them? The next step in the cleaning series is emptying the trash cans. It is under the weekly steps instead of daily.
This step just has to be done. This is one of those things that I don't think many of us can just turn a blind eye on. Some of the trash cans might have to be done more than once a week, but it is best to empty ALL of them at least once a week.
You can choose when you want to empty your trash cans. Is it the day before the garbage truck comes or is is the day they come? That is what I choose to do. I empty my trash cans every Monday. I have to empty my kitchen trash can at least one more time during the week, but sometimes two extra times during the week.
My little Hannelore has actually started helping me with this. It is part of her Monday chore chart. She enjoys cleaning out her trash cans. She helps me with her bathroom and her bedroom ones. I take care of the rest of the house.
This step takes us 10 minutes tops. It is a really fast step. 10 minutes from start to finish. I have a total of 6 trash cans in my house. I do not have one in every single room. However, I have them in the necessary rooms: kitchen, office, bathrooms, and then my daughter's bedroom.
The process is simple:
1. Take all the liners out of the trash cans individually.
2. Tie them up.
4. Once you have all of the liners emptied and tied up, take them out to the big garbage can right away. Don't wait or else you will get distracted. Also, don't just set it outside the back door and forget about it. Take care of it right then and there. You will be happy you did.
5. After they are taken out then go put liners in each of the garbage cans immediately. Again, if you don't do it immediately then you will forget and when it comes time to throw something away you will have an empty trash can with no liner and be disappointed that you didn't do it right away.
What do you use for liners? For my kitchen garbage can I buy the drawstring garbage can sacks. However, for each of my smaller garbage cans I use plastic grocery sacks that are emptied. I did buy drawstring liners for each of my smaller garbage cans and I loved how they fit so well, but it was too pricey. So now I only use recycled plastic grocery sacks!
Maybe this step seems silly to you, but maybe you picked up one tip. Either way I hope we can continue towards more clean homes and more happy woman and families that live in them!
