The Secret of Letting Go of Negative Thoughts

Buddha Board

I received compensation in exchange for writing this blog post.  Although this post is sponsored, all opinions are 100% my own.

My work life has been crazy.  It has been beyond what I signed up for.  It has brought me to the brink so many times that I have literally been hysterical.  When this happens I get so upset and I sometimes let it affect my attitude.  This year I want to inspire others and to be inspired BY others.  So my question is, "How do I inspire others when I have had a terrible day?  How do I inspire others when I have a TON of negative thoughts?"

This is a battle that I have been struggling with for quite some time.  I don't think I am the only one that struggles with this.  I think there are others out in the world that have a hard time keeping their spirits up when they have a day that is not the greatest.  So....what do we do?  I have always heard that when you have something on your mind to write it out.  That way it gets out of your body and it does something for you.  It releases the negativity and gets it off your chest.  This can all be done without involving anyone else.

I love this idea and I believe it works.  I think writing down your thoughts and feelings is a fantastic outlet. (Of course I do...look what I am doing now by writing on my blog.)  So I started trying it.  Then I heard about Buddha Boards.  Have you heard of them?  At first I thought what on earth would I do with that?  I thought, "I am NOT an artist so I won't use it for art projects."  However, they are the BEST invention to write your negative thoughts on.

Let me tell you why, because after about 2 minutes (depending on how much water was used) your negative thought is gone.  It literally has evaporated into the air.  You can write down your terrible thought and then you can let the thought leave you as you watch it disappear.  I LOVE it!

I want to mention that the more water you use the longer the design will stay.  So in the picture below there was more water applied to the box on the left.

You really don't need a step by step tutorial because it is so simple that my daughter can even do it, but a provided a brief one below.

Buddha Board

Here are some tips when using the Buddha Board:
  1. Only use the brush that it comes with...you don't want to scratch it.
  2. You do not have to press hard.
  3. Use clean, room temperature water.
  4. If you have any excess water use a soft, clean cloth to remove the excess.

  5. Don't let the board sit in water.
  6. Enjoy it!  It is quite therapeutic.
Here is a super quick tutorial:

Write down a word or phrase that represents your negative thoughts or feelings.

Before the word starts fading meditate of ways to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones.

Breathe deeply as you watch it fade away.

Once you have a clean board then let that negative thought or thoughts go! Don't hold on to them.

What do you think?  Is this something you could get on board with (no pun intended)?  It really has been a favorite in our home since we have been using it.  Also, check out how my daughter is using it and learning at the same time
