Pasta Storage Idea

Hey lovelies!  My kitchen is quite small.  Therefore I have to get creative with space.  I decided to utilize the top of my fridge as storage space, BUT since it will be seen all the time then of course it HAS to be cute.  So here is what I did.

I gathered different shapes of glass containers.  I did everything: pasta sauce jars, pickle jars, dip jars, salsa jars, and many more.  I just wanted them all to be different shapes.  I took off the labels.  A great way to take off the sticky part is to use a magic eraser.  It works wonders with very little effort.  It took me awhile to collect them all so I cleaned up the jars as I collected them.

Once I had them all then I went and got spray paint and the knobs.  I decided to do the 3 colors in the kitchen prints that I already have hung up.  (See them on this post)  I had to plan everything out, because that I how I do things.  So I decided which ones I wanted which colors.  I also decided which ones I wanted to have the round knob and which ones I wanted to use the candle cups on (these worked perfectly even though they aren't really knobs).  I glued the "knobs" on the lids with hot glue.  I do not cook pasta every night.  So I did not have to use something more heavy duty than hot glue.  If you plan on using them everyday then you might want to use Super Glue or something a little stronger than hot glue.

The round knobs were used for a church activity I was over earlier this year.  I had some left over so I utilized those.

Next I started spray painting.  I do not know what it is about spray painting, but I LOVE it.  I put about 3 coats on there to cover up the colors of from the lids.  I also had 2 jars that I wanted on stands to add some variety.  So I spray painted those as well.

After those sat for at least 24 hours I hot glued the stands on the jars and put the lids with their correct jar.

I then filled all the jars with the pasta.  I made sure that the smaller pasta went in the jars with the smaller openings.  That way the big openings could be used for the bigger pasta so they would not get stuck in the jars.

I love labels.  So I printed off the labels (Download them here), cut them out, and adhered them on the jars with Stampin Up's 2-Way Glue Pen (I have also used Zig Memory System's 2 Way Glue Pen).  The long/tall pasta I put in the Ikea Dry Food Jars.

I love how they turned out.  I love functional, yet cute/pretty.  When my husband saw it he said, "Does everything have to to cute when you can see it?"  Really honey?!  Really?  You know the answer.  Yes!!!!!
