New Years Eve Cheese Ball (great for kids as well)

If you are looking for a good snack for New Years Eve this is a great one.  It is perfect because picky eaters love it.  I would know because I tend to be a picky eater and so does a lot of my family.  That is why this recipe is great for kids as well.  I will also show you how to make it more "cute" or fun for kids.  You know what they say.  It's all in the presentation.

However, first you need the yummy recipe.

New Years Eve Cheese Balls
  • 2-8 oz. packages cream cheese
  • 1/3 c. mayonnaise (do not use Miracle Whip)
  • Dash of onion powder
  • 1 c. shredding Swiss cheese
  • 1 c. Colby jack cheese
  • 3/4 t. Bon Apetit
  • 1 t. Worcestershire sauce
  • Monterey Jack cheese, walnuts, pecans, or parsley (to roll the cheese ball in)
  • Wheat Thins, pretzel sticks, or any other cracker to pair with the cheese ball
Mix ingredients with a hand mixer until well blended.  Roll in Monterrey jack cheese.  Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

It is really, really really simple.  And oh so yummy.

If you aren't trying to make it look like a snowman (see below) then you can roll the balls in chopped walnuts or pecans, parsley, or any color of cheese.

If you want to make the kids really excited you can form it into a snowman. Roll 3 different sizes of balls.  It is also fun to roll little balls to place on the side as "snowballs".  I then roll it in Monterey Jack cheese.  Then stack the 3 different sizes into a snowman.  You can stop there or you can add pretzel sticks for arms, peppercorns or Whole Allspice for eyes and buttons, and then a sliver of a carrot for the nose.

Let me know what you think.  Every time I make this I am asked what the recipe is.  So here you go! You can now share it with others.

How cute is this?! My boys will love devouring this little guy. We always have a cheese ball for NYE and I think I'll have to make this one this year vs. buying one. Thanks for sharing in the blog hop!
