Declutter your makeup!

This post is written by beauty/makeup contributor, Danielle.

First off, I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year and Holiday with family and friends. 2015 is going to be an  awesome year and great way to kick it all off is with a little de-cluttering.

Its always good to start the year clean, fresh and organized. The one thing that takes up a lot of space in my makeup collection is eye shadow palettes. I love being able to use a variety of things together but it's very hard to carry around multiple palettes at once. I finally found the solution to my problem. It is what is called a Zpalette.  (Z Palette Large Black-lots of different choices as well or Z Palette)

I can take and pop out all my eye shadow pans from all the different palettes I have and neatly place them in one convenient and compact holder. These are truly amazing and perfect to help de-clutter all the bulk packing and leave more space. I went from having between 12-14 bulky eye shadow palettes to 4 slim cases! It is now so much easier for me to grab 4 slim palettes that have unlimited choices in my hands than it is to shuffle through so many to find the colors I want. It truly is a gamer changer and the ultimate de-clutter tool.

As far as de-cluttering the rest of my makeup collection I like to sort through all my products and follow the general rules below of how long to keep each product and when to toss.
Mascara 3 months
Liquid liners 6 months
Foundation 6-12 months
Lip gloss 1 year
Concealer 1 year
Lip stick 2 years
Powders 2 years
Eye-shadow, bronzer, blush 2 years
Now of course these are not rules but more of the recommended time to keep these for clean and safe use. I don't always stick to this, you can generally tell when its time to toss something in the trash. But the above guidelines do help when you are not quite sure what to do.

When I have products that I've tried a few times and they don't work for me or I don't like I will usually set them aside to give to a family member or friend so I don't have them sitting around collecting dust and so they don't go to waste. I hope some of these tips come in handy, happy de-cluttering and 2015!
