Shambray: Blazers and Denim Jackets for Women (Minimalist Wardrobe List: A 36 Piece Wardrobe)

Let's talk about blazers and denim jackets for women for a bit. I liked the idea of having a denim jacket in my closet, but I also liked the idea of having a blazer. I knew I had to pick just one so I thought about the pros and cons. For the denim jacket I saw pros in the fact that I am a stay at home mom. I rarely have to get dressed up for anything so more casual made sense. However, there is a con with that too. I loved working in an office for many reasons, but one of those reasons was the fact that I got to dress up.

So any chance I can get I loved the idea of wearing a blazer. I also knew I could make it look more casual at times. So in the end that is what I went with. This is completely a personal decision. You pick what you will wear more and what you feel comfortable wearing.

Ways to wear blazers and denim jackets

Lets first talk about blazers. You can wear blazer with just about anything. I love mine to dress up a graphic tee. They are great over blouses and any of your shirts as long as the colors go well together. They are great with jeans, but also great with skirts and dresses. I wear my blazer with all my shoes and it works. If I had to give a piece of advice it would be to get a blazer that has long arms. Mine is 3/4 length on the arms and I wish I would have done full length on the arms. If you only have one then I would say go long. Also, go with more of a color that will go with a lot of shirts. I went with burgundy and kind of wish I would have went more neutral. Just some things to think about. I am going to be getting a new one soon and will get neutral with long arms.

Now lets move to denim. Denim jackets can make a more dressy outfit seem more casual. So I don't recommend wearing them to something super formal. But you can still wear them with dresses and skirts. The only thing I say to NOT do with a denim jacket is to wear denim jacket with denim colored jeans. Wear them with your black skinny jeans...another reason to get black skinny jeans.
